VP Sara, 16 abogado sa impeachment trial

MANILA, Philippines — Pormal na isinumite sa Impeachment Court ng kampo ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang listahan ng kanyang mga abogado.

Ayon sa press release ng impeachment court, alas-5:30 ng hapon nila natanggap ang dokumento o “­Appearance Ad Cautelam” mula sa Fortun Narvasa & Salazar Law Office na kakatawan at magiging tagapagtanggol ng Bise Presidente sa impeachment trial.

Nakasaad din na pinadalhan ng kopya ng mga abogado ni Duterte ang House of Representatives pero may note ito ng “Tender Copy refuse to receive.”

“The undersigned Firm and the lawyers whose signatures appear below, respectfully enter their appearance as counsel for Vice President Saza Z. Duterte without prejudice to any jurisdictional and/or other objections that she may have in this case,” nakasaad sa dokumento.

Kabilang sa mga magiging abogado ni Duterte sina Philip Sigfrid Fortun, Gregorio Narvasa II, Shiela C. Sison, Carlo Joaquin Narvasa, Roberto Batungbacal, Justin Nicol Gular, Lindon Miguel Bacquel, David Ronell Golla VII, Maria Selena Golda Fortun, Clarlaine Radoc, Francesca Marie Flores, Miguel Carlos Fernandez, Micheal Wesley Poa, Reynold Munsayac, Mark Vinluan at Ralph Bodota.

Samantala, tuloy pa rin ang impeachment trial ni VP Sara kahit pa tumanggi siyang tumugon sa Articles of Impeachment.

Ayon kay Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero, pinapayagan ang depensa na magpasok ng “not guilty” plea para kay Duterte.

“Magkaiba sa parte ng nasasakdal — meron siyang option na hindi sumagot, may procedure din kung sakaling gawin ‘yon. Kung ‘di sumagot, magpapatuloy ang pagdinig, mag-e-enter lamang ng plea of not guilty sa ngalan niya,” ani Escudero.

Matatandaan na nagpadala ng summons ang Impeachment Court kay Duterte at may hanggang Hunyo 21 ito para sumagot.

Sinabi ni Escudero na wala pa silang natatanggap na sagot mula sa bise presidente maging sa House kung saan humihingi ng sertipikasyon ang impeacment court na hindi labag sa Konstitusyon ang ipinadala nilang Articles of Impeachment.
