‘Siquijor power woe solution out in 6 months’

MANILA, Philippines — The government aims to come up with a long-term solution to Siquijor’s power woes within six months, President Marcos said yesterday.
Marcos visited the province to inspect the Siquijor Diesel Power Plant in Candanay Sur, which is reeling from power outages that have affected residents and the economy.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said Marcos was angry and disappointed because of the situation in Siquijor.
Marcos said two power generators from Palawan would be sent to Siquijor as a short-term solution to the problem.
“Six months from now, we will guarantee that there will be a long-term solution to Siquijor’s power problem,” Marcos said.
He said the government has to look into fuel supply and develop transmission lines and ensure that generators are working properly.
